The U S A Boys National team beats Russia 4-3 in O T. to take the Bronze medal.
After going 5 wins and 2 losses in the round robin, the USA Boys advance to the semi finals.
In perhaps the most exciting game of the entire World Youth and Student Games held in Colorado Springs Co. on the campus of Colorado College, July 14 to 16, the U S A Youth National Boys team edged Russia 4-3 in overtime.
Three of the 6 team members were from the N Y Knights team, Izzy Shahadat, Jahron Black and Isrick Delgado.
With the USA behind 2-0 at the end of the first half, Team USA scores midway through the half, but Russia comes back to score with 4 minutes remaining to make the score 3-1.
Russia, smelling victory goes into a stall and starts rolling the ball slowly to eat up the clock.
With 3:38 left in the period, USA subs in Brooklyn's pride Jahron Black at wing.
Jahron on his first throw scores to cut the lead to 3-2 Russia.
This sets up the last throw of the period to be taken by Jahron. He starts his wind up but almost looses control of the ball and regains his composure and slams the ball down the court into the net with 1 second remaining on the clock to tie the game at 3 and send it into O T.
Russia wins the coin toss in O T, throws first and is blocked. Jahron gets the ball, winds up with all his might and slams the ball past the Russians and into the net to give the USA at 4-3 O T win and the Bronze medal. The crowd goes wild as Jahron's team mates storm the court and Jahron, over this exciting victory.
The USA Girls National team took the silver medal.
Final Standings: BOYS: South Korea, Germany, U S A, Russia, Japan, Brazil, Canada, Great Britain.
